Abstract:

The safety of vehicles increased significantly by using active and passive safety systems. Through the introduction of active suspension systems, the safety of vehicles can be raised even further and the handling improved. It has an influence on the size and distribution of the tire normal forces. Consequently a control of vertical, pitch, roll dynamics and self-steering properties is possible. The influence of active suspension systems on the vehicle handling is realized by varying the roll stiffness distribution between the front and rear axle, whereby the control is based on active antiroll bars. In this way the lateral force potential can be optimally exhaust, the critical lateral acceleration when changing from understeering to oversteering handling reduced and the loss of steering willingness compared to a neutral handling compensated.
