Abstract:
The authors present a nonlinear adaptive control scheme and its application to the grinding force control of form grinding processes. Considering that parameters of real processes may change in unpredictable ways, the robustness of a control system against parameter uncertainties is desired. To this end, a nonlinear adaptive observer which estimates the model parameters is used. The complete concept may be considered as a nonlinear indirect adaptive control scheme. The proposed scheme is applied to the grinding force control of a form grinding process. The simulation results show that the controller provides the desired performance
